After a busy March with Andy telling the Easter story in schools and Ruth finishing the Easter themed artwork for The Sanctuary, we launched into our Easter outreach here in Watchet in the first week of the holidays. On the Monday nearly 40 children joined us for our Easter Rescue Mission Holiday Club, sharing the story of Easter through games, competitions, craft, songs and video. It was great to have some of our teens taking a big part in the team too, getting it all ready and working with children on the day. You can check out the highlights here:

Then on the Thursday we partnered with the Spring Harvest youth team to bring 45 young people and youth leaders to Watchet from Butlins (on a the steam train) to join us in an afternoon of community outreach. In Watchet the teams washed cars for free (much to some peoples surprise!), picked up litter in the parks and helped us run our Easter craft event at The Sanctuary (which was enjoyed by families we know and some we don’t); and over in Williton a team gave out chocolate eggs to shoppers and passers-by (and one group even prayed for some shop keepers!). In the evening, some of us went over to the youth celebration at Spring Harvest and were interviewed about Watchet and what it’s like to live here all the time, they then prayed for us and our coastal towns here in West Somerset – a real blessing!

Here’s the video they made of their visit:

The second week of the holidays did include holiday and the opportunity for us all to go and visit Spring Harvest ourselves, and the week was topped off by a fantastic Easter Sunday celebration that began on the beach at Blue Anchor with others from the local churches and was closely followed by Matt’s baptism in the school swimming pool. Check out his double dunking here:

We can’t quite believe our ‘little’ Hannah turned 16 last month and after much revision and preparation her GCSEs are here! In fact today she has her first written exam (Biology) and these continue through until 16th June. Hannah’s doing well amidst the pressure and all that goes with this season but would certainly appreciate your prayers.

In our prayer letter before Easter we asked you to pray about us replacing our car with a bigger one – and praise God – a couple of weeks ago we were able to purchase a very smart Renault Grand Espace that is exactly what we’d being looking for. Thank you so much to those who so generously contributed to this. A real answer to prayer!

Thanks again to all those who continue to pray for us. Hope to catch some of you at SHBC on Sunday 28 May.
