For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptised into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. For the body does not consist of one member but of many.
1 Corinthians 12:12-13
When we grow up in a society we naturally learn the rules, etiquette and expectations of that society. If we move to a different society at first we can feel uncomfortable and we have to invest time learning those things all over again so that we not only fit in, but also so that our lives in that culture can be more fulfilling; so that we can feel more at home there. The same is true of moving church, or coming to church for the first time; we can feel uncomfortable because we are unsure what is going on.
Even if you have attended church for many years attending a new church may be a little confusing and can take some time to adapt to This is especially true of Baptists, where individual congregations can be as different as night and day in their expression of church.
The purpose of Exploring Church is to both explore what church is and to look at how we do church at Station Hill. It is designed both for those who are new to faith and for those transferring from other churches and is a pre-requisite for those wishing to become church members.
We run the Exploring Church group twice per year, if you would like to know more or if you wish to attend please speak to the Minister.
Over a period of six weeks a small group meets to discuss the various aspects of church life. This may lead to a further discussion on Membership or Baptism, or how one might serve the fellowship. Attending an Exploring Church group is a pre-requisite to becoming a Member and/or to serving in the church.
If you think you would benefit from attending this group then please contact the Minister.
