We believe all ages are precious and valued by God, and it is important to have activities which are specially focused on older folk, as not all are able to join in the usual activities of the church, due to frailty etc. and can feel left out and not valued. They still need to have their walk with God encouraged, and to have fellowship with others, and we aim to try and help that in the activities and services we provide.

The Lunchtime Fellowship

We meet once a month, usually on the 1st Wednesday, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Our aim is to have fun, fellowship, and good, home-cooked food (plus a choice of puddings!) After lunch  we have a short time of fellowship- either a talk, quiz, time of sharing or various other activities, eg. In March we had The Bobby Van Trust come, to talk about safety in the home etc. We always incude a hymn and a time of prayer.

Not everyone comes to the church on Sundays, some are invited by friends, some come from other churches, or hear about us some other way, but we still think of everyone as part of our church family.

The Sunday Afternoon Fellowship

We meet once a month, usually on the 3rd Sunday, but this is occasionally altered to the 2nd or 4th. We meet at 3 p.m.,have a service which is shorter and perhaps more traditional than usual morning services, with hymns, prayers, and a short talk. This lasts about 45 mins, and then we have tea – sandwiches, home-baked cakes, and various other goodies! Everyone goes home usually between 4.30 and 5 p.m.

In August we have a tea party in someone’s garden, and enjoy a time of fun overlooking the countryside, if the weather is fine!

Not everyone belongs to the church, we have people from other churches, and for some this is the only time they come to worship. Sometimes we have people come who have difficulty attending the usual morning or evening services for various reasons, but for whom the afternoon is more convenient.

All are very welcome and if you would like to find out more about our Seniors programme then please contact Sonia & Terry.
